HAEMATOLOGY

header image

The haematology laboratory performs all haematology tests (anaemia studies, white blood cells studies, platelets studies, coagulation tests, etc.).

In our laboratory we place emphasis on the microscopic examination of blood, not omitting to examine microscopically the peripheral blood smear in the General blood test

Our great experience in blood film allows us to diagnose hematologic malignancies early, as well as to monitor and respond to treatment.

Department of molecular biology

Our laboratory, equipped with modern molecular analyser of German technology, performs PCR tests (polymerase chain reaction) with absolute precision. Thanks to this we responded immediately to the challenge of the coronavirus pandemic.

PCR tests for the diagnosis of Covid-19 are performed daily and the results are given on the same day.

MICROBIAL CULTURE

The culture Department of our laboratory is highly developed having the possibility to isolate most of the microbes.

In particular, in our laboratory the following cultures are performed:

  • Urine
  • Faecal
  • Pus
  • Nasal smear
  • Pharyngeal smear
  • Sputum
  • Ear smear
  • Eye smear
  • Blood
  • Vaginal and cervical secretions
  • Urethral discharge
  • Prostatic secretion
  • Semen
  • Pleural fluid
  • Synovial fluid
  • Cerebrospinal fluid
  • Skin damage, nails and hair damage (link)

Fungal culture

In our laboratory, it is performed fungal culture and identification in skin lesions, hair and nails, a fact that makes our laboratory special.

BIOCHEMICAL

Biochemical tests are performed in two modern Biochemical Analysers, which are in intercommunication with the Secretariat of the Laboratory.

  • The test orders are carried out automatically
  • The samples are identified by the analysers with a barcode system
  • The results return to the Secretariat electronically.

A thorough quality control is performed every day before they start operating for each of the tests.

IMMUNOLOGICAL and HORMONAL

header image

With the three immunologists - hormonal analysts and the experience we have, we are able to perform daily a wide range of immunological and hormonal tests, so as to provide immediate solutions to complex diagnostic problems

URINE

General urinalysis is one of the most common. Its importance is great as it provides a lot of information about the patient’s health.

The general urinalysis includes the biochemical and microscopic test of urine.

The urine culture includes:

  • The isolation of the germ in urinary tract infection
  • The identification of the germ (the type of germ)
  • The appropriate antibiogram, depending on the location of the urinary tract infection and the particularities of the patient.

SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED

header image

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) or venereal diseases are diseases that are transmitted from one person to another during sexual intercourse (vaginal, anal, oral) or even by simple body-to-body contact.

Our laboratory undertakes with responsibility and respect to the patient’s personal data a complete control for venereal diseases in the majority of which the results are ready within the same day. For example:

  • HIV I and II
  • Hepatitis B and C
  • Syphilis
  • Chlamydia
  • Mycoplasma genitalium
  • Genital herpes
  • HPV (Human papilloma viruses)
  • Gonorrhoea
  • Trichomoniasis

ANDROLOGICAL

A complete semen test is performed in our laboratory:

  • Sperm diagram
  • Biochemical test (acid phosphatase, fructose, magnesium, carnitine)
  • Culture for common germs
  • Culture for mycoplasma, ureaplasma
  • Test for chlamydial infection.

Moreover, the sperm is enriched for insemination.

The insemination process is the simplest form of assisted reproduction.

It is carried out under specific conditions and after consultation with the Gynaecologist.

PRENATAL TESTING

header image

The good news of pregnancy is followed by the prenatal check-up which aims to ensure the smooth development of the pregnancy for both the mother and the foetus.

Our laboratory, with consistency and responsibility required this important event, undertakes to carry out a complete prenatal profile of haematological and biochemical tests.

  • General blood test, iron and ferritin levels.
  • Haemoglobin electrophoresis
  • Blood type and Rhesus
  • Serology test for Rubella, Cytomegalovirus and Toxoplasmosis.
  • Test for HIV I and II, Hepatitis B and C and Syphilis
  • Gene testing for cystic fibrosis
  • Non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT)
  • Measurement of biochemical indicators PAPP-a and β-hCG.
  • Glucose measurement and glucose tolerance test (sugar curve)
  • Thyroid check
  • Vaginal smear culture for haemolytic streptococcus, Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum.
  • General urinalysis

ONCOLOGY

header image

The oncology department performs blood tests to detect biological indicators of malignant diseases. Tumour markers are chemical substances found in body fluids or tissues and that are associated with the presence of malignancy (cancer). Measurement of their levels is used to prevent, diagnose, and monitor the course during treatment.

Some of the tests performed in our laboratory are CEA, aFP, CA 19-9, CA 15-3, CA 125, CA 72-4, hCG, β2-hemoglobin, PSA, FPSA, FPSA/ TPSA and others.

Our great experience in blood film allows us to diagnose hematologic malignancies early, as well as to monitor and respond to treatment.

WATER CONTROL

header image

Water quality is of paramount importance to our health.

The laboratory has special equipment for water quality control.

This control includes:

  • Water culture to control microbial contamination
  • Chemical control to assess its suitability.
